Time is our most valuable resource and gift to others. Giving Kids promotes social thinking in children. We do this by encouraging children and parents to donate the value of birthday presents to charity. Founded by a Melbourne mum, Giving Kids is based on a belief that we should encourage our children to value life, not things. Our children need our time and attention more than anything. This attention is getting harder and harder with more parents working hard to maintain material based lifestyles. Giving Kids believes in quality of life not quantity of things.

Our children are very fortunate to grow up in a safe country. Most of them are also fortunate enough to have almost every material thing they wish for. But, does that actually make them happier? We all know that look of excitement when our children unwrap an abundance of presents on their birthdays. However, this excitement is short lived. After unwrapping a few presents, the excitement diminishes. Most parents know, only a few of many presents given, actually become valued objects. . Toys are often rejected quickly and end up contributing to the excessive amounts of rubbish in our landfill sites today.
This is a waste of money, resources and does not help when it comes to cleaning kids bedrooms. When children are actually asked: “What do you want?” the most common answer is to spend time with friends or family.. Giving Kids aims to remind our children and their parents of what they really value. Giving Kids is about educating children that giving is just as fun as receiving. Giving Kids stands for both the act of Giving,and being a Giving person. If your child is not quite ready to donate the total value of their presents they can also choose to send the Giving Kids invitation only to selected guests .
The Giving kids online platform promotes ideas that are about teaching our kids to value what they have and how they can share. Kids are happy with very little until they start learning that owing a lot is what they should be looking out for. Giving Kids nurtures a different approach, one that nurtures quality, time and a social consciousness.
